Friend and designer Samantha Curcio recently introduced me to the site Shorpy. Shorpy is a vintage photography blog featuring thousands of high-definition images from the 1850s to 1950s. There is hours of inspiration on this site. I love the images featuring signage with beautiful handwritten typography. Also the old branding like Dr Pepper below. It’s so awesome to see how brands have evolved.

A fabulous site that I’ve just discovered with lots of vintage goodies. “Display is a curated collection of important modern, mid 20th century graphic design books, periodicals, advertisements and ephemera.” The feature on the World Design Conference in Tokyo is definitely worth a look.

Happy font friday!! I’ve been inspired this week by a book that I brought from the fabulous designer Louise FiliScripts: Elegant Lettering from Design’s Golden Age is filled to the brim with gorgeous typography examples from throughout America and Europe. So today I’m sharing with you a beautiful script font called Breathe.

I love this quote from the designer about the font; “Breathe Pro is inspired in the Art of our predecessors, those who with a pen loaded of ink would decorate each letter, each page in such a lovely way. Yes, -lovely- is the word. We would not have the amazing lettering artists, calligraphers, typographers of nowadays if that -love for letters- had not traveled from generation to generation. Breathe Pro is an example of this love. An example of what Maximiliano R. Sproviero feels about typography and letters.” You can purchase Breathe from MyFonts for $20… bargain!
